MENTAL HEALTH YOGA
Your Nervous System Runs the Show — And It's Stuck in "Always On"
Mental Health Yoga rewires it in a room, not a book.

Mental Health Yoga & Neuro-Somatic Regulation is not studio yoga with a mental-health label on top.

It is a body-first protocol that uses posture, breath, gaze, and grounded touch to interrupt the sympathetic loop — the same loop that keeps you anxious, sleepless, hypervigilant, or numb.

Sessions are held at SHALOM YOGA in Huntingdon Valley, PA. In-person and online.

PART I
A Nervous-System Practice, Not a Fitness Class

Ordinary yoga trains the muscles. Mental Health Yoga trains the vagus nerve, the diaphragm, and the interoceptive network.

  • The teacher watches your nervous system, not your form
  • The room is quiet; the pace is slow enough for the body to notice safety
  • Each movement is paired with a specific breath and a specific gaze pattern
  • Techniques draw from Bodynamic, Body Synergy, Polyvagal-informed practice, and clinical breathwork

You leave with a body that finally believes it is safe.

PART II
Neuro-Somatic Regulation in Plain English

Your body has a set point for arousal. Trauma, chronic stress, and years of pushing through raise that set point until "calm" begins to feel like "empty."

We lower the set point through:

  • Vagal breathwork — resonant breathing 5-in / 5-out and paced variations
  • Bodynamic somatic — the muscle-by-muscle map of your defense patterns
  • Hypnotherapy — access to the layer beneath verbal cognition
  • EMDR — for isolated trauma memories that keep firing
  • Biofeedback + HRV — you see the change on screen; the body records it in the tissue

You don't need to believe in it. Your HRV either rises or it doesn't.

PART III
Especially Effective For
  • Chronic anxiety, hypervigilance, and the inability to "come down"
  • Sleep that broke and never fully returned
  • Post-traumatic patterns — car accident, medical event, war, loss
  • Burnout in high-functioning professionals
  • Somatic tension that talk therapy has not reached
  • Long-term stress and armored breathing patterns
  • Ukrainian-speaking war-affected clients — free access via PsyU4U program
PART IV
What Changes

What participants report:

  • A felt sense of safety that does not depend on circumstances
  • Sleep that returns without medication
  • Breath that reaches the diaphragm again
  • Ability to be present without shutting down
  • Release of chronic muscular tension
  • Emotional regulation without effort
  • Curiosity replacing hypervigilance
